In loving memory of Dolores (Lola) Vega, we are saddened to announce her passing on October 3 at the age of 90 years old. She lived such a wonderful life enriched by all her loving family and friends. Those of you that knew her, would always be greeted by her joyous smile, warm heart, and were embraced as family.
Dolores (Lola) Vega, was born in San Bernardino, CA on February 29, 1932. She was one of eleven children born to Luz Negrete & Gaudalupe Negrete.
Dolores attended San Bernardino High School and graduated in 1950. At the young age of 16 years old, she met and fell in love with the love of her life, Manuel. They married in August 1951 and shared 71 years together. They had four children. Three daughters, Olivia, Karen, and Rose Ann and son, Tom.
Dolores always worked hard as a seamstress and floor supervisor throughout her child rearing age and retired when her son entered junior high school. Family was her life and commitment and she made every effort to support her husband’s education, career, political and social activities while equally loving and guiding her children’s growth and life experiences.
Like our father, she also set a good example by working hard and encouraged her children to be the best that they could be.
Dolores loved traveling, socializing with friends and family and her interests included cooking her special recipes, reading, puzzles, watching sports with her husband and family, and doing a variety of crafting. She was happy to be part of the “Crafty Ladies" group that would meet on a weekly basis.
Dolores and her husband made so many wonderful friends throughout their life together and cherished every moment. She was such a loving person and recognized the importance of close friends and strong family relations. She expressed that the love and joy that her family and friends gave her during her lifetime was a fulfillment beyond her dreams.
She is survived by her children and spouses, Olivia Osorno (David), Karen Best (David), Rose Ann Killion (Steve) and Tom Vega (Krista), her grandchildren David, Anthony, Kristin, Adam and Andy, great-grandchildren Jacob, Alyssa, Harlynn, Jonah, Evie, Wyatt and Malcom, and sisters Gloria and Rachel, brothers, many nieces and nephews.
