Dolores "Dollie" Soriano Casuga, 78, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep early Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in Ventura, CA. She was born in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines on September 21, 1935 to Ramiro and Saturnina Soriano. On April 17, 1970, she married the love of her life, Samuel Hidalgo Casuga. While her husband was overseas, she raised six children, which made her quite resourceful and efficient. Like a regular McGyver, she whipped-up meals from whatever ingredients she found in the fridge. The same positive thinking convinced her that she could grow cherimoya trees from seed. Usually thinking of others before herself, she was generous and compassionate. Her free spirit, energetic personality and big smile made people feel like old friends even if she just met them for the first time. Dollie worked as a secretary to the adjutant general at the Philippine Military Academy and later as a Financial Administrative Assistant for the EOPS Office at Oxnard College. Dollie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Samuel Casuga, six children: Elizabeth (Michael), Cathy (Ed), Walter (Vinia), Joseph (Lynette), Michael (Anita) and Marty; and ten grandchildren: Brandon, Walter Jr., Nia, Viann, Jenna, Joseph Jr., Jaden, Shyanne, Marcus and Maykala; and survived by two of her eight siblings (Esther and Auring). Viewing and funeral services will be conducted at Del Angel Conrad & Reardon Mortuary at 401 W. Channel Islands Blvd, Oxnard, CA 93033 on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, viewing from 1- 4:30p.m, Rosary from 4:30- 5:30, Memorial Service 6-7 and Celebration of Life to follow. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/venturacountystar/obituary.aspx?n=dolores-soriano-casuga&pid=168148979&fhid=2423#sthash.Kh7rsmOJ.dpuf
