Cecilia Servando Genavia

Cecilia Servando Genavia was born on January 9, 1929, in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, Philippines to parents Cayetano Servando & Socorro Saguirre Servando. She later moved to Pasig City, Manila and worked in her auntie’s canteen, where she met an electrician apprentice, Eustaquio Espera Genavia Jr. They married in 1955 and raised 7 children together until his passing in 1983.

In January of 1986, she came to the United States of America, arriving in Monterey, CA. While in the US, she worked as a housekeeper at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA until she retired in 1997, and moved to Oxnard, CA. Throughout the years, she traveled back and forth between the US and the Philippines, enjoying time with all of her grandchildren in both countries.

In 1969, she began to study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses, and continued to follow the example of Jesus Christ. On July 20, 2019 she symbolized her personal dedication to God and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

On December 5, 2019, our dear Lola Celing passed away in her sleep, and is now at rest as she awaits the resurrection. (Acts 24:15.) We will miss her dearly and know that she is waiting for Him to call her name, and to awaken in an earthly paradise. (Luke 23:43, Revelation 21:4)

Cecilia is preceded in death by parents Cayetano & Socorro, and sister Amelia. A great tribe has grown from Cecilia (100 to count), and is left to cherish her memory: 7 children - Rosalia Esquerra, Joseph, Reynaldo, John Medardo, Winefredo, Ella Mae Lleva, and Joel, and 7 children in law: Efren Esquerra, Luvy, Fe, Amelita, Imelda, Domingo Lleva Jr, and Thelma); 34 grandchildren - Lea, Imelda, Joven, Jeriel, Celiaflor, Flordeliza, Crystal, Joseph Christian, Lizcryscel, Melquiades, Marvin, Rey Jay, Bryan, Maria Fe, Angela, Kenneth, Sarah Rebecca, Celia Lyn, Jonathan, John, Precious May, Paula, Tonette, Bernadette, Adecille, Alfred D., Gendel, Katherine Anne, Junell, Marlon, Jayson, Jeric, Joetel, and Jhelma; 41 great grandchildren - Shiela May, Ann-Ann, Noel, Giselle, Jesper, Jinky, Nica, Angelica, Jesicca, Kimberly, Vanessa, Kristine Nicole, Ashley, Jenine, Jillian, Ruben, Eliz, Mabel, Jaster, JC, Myrca, John Dave, Elmar, CJ, Tracy, Kenshinn, Shanica, Caitlyn, Jampong, Ahleli, Ella, Elise, Cypress, Rhey Jon, Mia Alexandria, Ardson, Eifred, Iselin Jane, Lexie Jhil, Lhana Rhane, and Althea Julianna; and 18 great, great grandchildren - Aldren, Sheng-sheng, Dudz, Chelsy, Steve, Cleng-cleng, Niana, Zane, Andrew, Mana, Hazel, Monique, Shaira, Joshua, Amberly, Kyla Mae, Althea, and Andrea.

Memorial service discourse will be held at 1:00 p.m. on December 14, 2019 at Funeraria Del Angel 401 W. Channel Islands Blvd Oxnard, Ca. 93033. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Reception will follow the service.

Si Cecilia Servando Genavia ay ipinanganak noong Enero 9, 1929, sa Sta. Cruz, Laguna, Pilipinas sa mga magulang Cayetano Servando & Socorro Saguirre Servando. Kalaunan ay lumipat siya sa Pasig City, Maynila, kung saan nagtatrabaho siya sa canteen ng kanyang tiya, kung saan nakilala niya ang isang electrician apprentice, si Eustaquio Espera Genavia Jr. Nag-asawa sila noong 1955 at pinalaki ang 7 na anak hanggang sa kanyang pagpanaw noong 1983.

Noong Enero ng 1986, napunta siya sa Estados Unidos ng Amerika, na dumating sa Monterey, CA. Habang sa US, nagtatrabaho siya bilang isang kasambahay sa Naval Postgraduate School sa Monterey, CA hanggang siya ay nagretiro noong 1997, at lumipat sa Oxnard, CA. Sa sumunod na mga taon, nagbiyahe siya sa pagitan ng US at Pilipinas, na nasisiyahan sa oras kasama ang lahat ng kanyang mga apo sa parehong bansa.

Noong 1969, nagsimula siyang mag-aral ng Bibliya sa mga Saksi ni Jehova, at patuloy na sumunod sa halimbawa ni Jesus. Noong Hulyo 20, 2019 isinagisag niya ang kanyang personal na pag-aalay sa Diyos at nabautismuhan bilang isa sa mga Saksi ni Jehova.

Noong Disyembre 5, 2019, ang aming mahal na Lola Celing ay namatay sa kanyang pagtulog, at ngayon ay nasa pamamahinga habang hinihintay niya ang pagkabuhay na mag-uli. (Mga Gawa 24:15.) Tayo ay magungulila sa kanya subalit alam natin na hinihintay niya na tawagin ni Jehova ang kanyang pangalan, at magising sa isang makalupang paraiso. (Lucas 23:43, Pahayag 21: 4)

Si Cecilia ay naulila ng kanyang mga magulang na sina Cayetano Servando & Socorro Saguirre, at kapatid na si Amelia. Ang isang mahusay na tribo ay lumago mula kay Cecilia (100 na mga katao), at naiwan upang mahalin ang kanyang mga ala-ala. Ang mga naulila niya ay 7 mga anak and 7 mga manugang, 34 na mga apo, 41 apo sa tuhod at 18 mga apo sa sakong.
