William Turlington Heath 91, was born in Richlands, North Carolina, December 15, 1933, and died February 8th, 2025, in Oviedo Fl. His parents were Rodolph Heath & Ruth Octavia (Huffman) Heath. He was the 6th born out of 13 siblings.
More widely known as W.T, Bill, or Poppy, he loved singing country music, playing his guitar, his relationship with God, following safety rules, vanilla ice cream, his family, a glass of scotch, suspenders, a flat cap, and most of all, his wife of 69 years, Carolyn (Allen) Heath.
W.T graduated as salutatorian of his class of 1952 at Jones Central High School in Trenton, North Carolina. The same day he graduated high school; he was drafted into the United States Army for 2 years where he was a corporal stationed in Germany. After his time in the army, he started his career of 33 years at Montgomery Ward. He worked his way up, starting as a tire salesman and retiring as a regional manager. His work ethic was second to none. In 33 years, he missed 2 days of work.
He devoted his life to making sure his family was safe, as we affectionately called him “Mr. Safety.” Dad was the best for praying. He always began any family meal with a prayer that always touched the hearts of those that were gathered.
Bill loved receiving presents and could never wait his turn in the family Christmas gift circle to open his gifts. He would always have one side of his present opened by the time it was his turn.
He was known for bringing his famous deviled eggs to any gathering and usually went home with an empty tray, as they were a fan favorite. He was also known for his impeccable hygiene. Having hair that could withstand hurricane force winds and not moving, always being clean shaven, properly dressed - even tucking his pajama shirt in and priding himself on never having a cavity in his 91 years of life.
He always thought of other people, leaving a cold bottle of coke on top of the trash bins for the garbage workers to enjoy or trying to sneak a $20 dollar bill in your hand as you shook his. He was known as William “tell it as it is” Heath, for he was never known to shy away from telling you the truth, albeit, rooted in love. He definitely was “A man with a plan for everything “.
