Susan Elaine Hering

Susan Elaine Hering, age 90, passed away peacefully December 19, 2022. She was born August 17, 1932 in Elgin, Illinois to Albert Percy and Blanche Longland. She married Frederick William Hering, Sr., in August of 1957 who preceded her in death in 2015.

Sue was always on the go! She crafted and made stained glass, sewed clothes and dolls, painted ceramics and loved to bake. Her hands were rarely still. She loved to bake at the holidays, cookies, pastries, and her favorite “pork pie” for Christmas morning.

For many years Sue worked for the State of Florida, Department of Health in Orlando. She had been working in Public Health since her time at the American Heart Association in Detroit, MI (where she met husband, Fred). She earned her Master’s in Public Health from the University of Alabama Birmingham campus. She was the first female graduate with the MPH from that University! Sue was a lifelong supporter of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. “Roll Tide”!

Sue is survived by her son Fred Jr. and daughter in law Gail.
