Scott Cramer of Oviedo, Florida, passed away on April 6 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 59 years old.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 18, 1966, Scott graduated from Weston High School in Weston, Connecticut in 1984 and went on to attend Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. Over the years, Scott built a vibrant and varied career in hospitality, concert promotion, and retail management.
Scott is survived by his loving partner and husband of over 30 years, Doug Simpson. The two were married in April of 2023, a joyful milestone in a beautiful and enduring relationship. Together, they shared a life full of adventure, often traveling to Las Vegas and exploring the western United States. Scott’s passions were many—concerts, cuisine, laughter, and love. Whether enjoying fast food, buffets, or fine dining, he relished every meal and every moment. His enthusiasm for music was just as boundless, with concert memories ranging from the Rolling Stones and Billy Joel to Lady Gaga.
Scott’s unique humor, boundless energy, and quick wit left a lasting impression on all who knew him. A fan of the movie Airplane!, he could quote it line for line—especially when it was time to lift someone’s spirits. His compassion and generosity were legendary: he would quite literally give you the shirt off his back (and likely tell you the worst joke imaginable while doing so).
Scott also leaves behind his father, Marshall, and Marshall’s wife Sally, as well as his sister, Alix. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Lois—his fierce “mama bear”—and his brother, Brad. Lois was not only a loving mother to Scott but a second mother to many of his friends. Her memory lived on vividly in Scott’s heart, and he spoke of her often and fondly.
A funeral service will be held in Scott’s honor at 11:30 a.m. on April 21 at the Eternal Light Memorial, 1152 State Road #7, Boynton Beach, Florida 33473.
Scott will be dearly missed, but his humor, warmth, and love for life will never be forgotten.
