Sara Elizabeth Rowan was born in Nashville Tennessee to James and Sara “Bess” Rowan in 1929. She was the fourth of ten children. She married Thomas Joseph Watkins in 1948. They moved to Geneva, Florida in 1963, where they raised their 7 children on the same property for the next 52 years. In the mid 60’s she owned her own business, Sara’s Yesteryears. The summer of 1976, the first house burned down soon to be replaced by the current log house. Sara was a devout catholic and a member of the American Civil Liberties Union. She was a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party. Sara was also known for her sense of fashion, her love of jewelry, art, upholstery, and interior design. All of these passions Sara passed on to her children especially her love of cosplay. Above all she loved her family and her hats (not always in that order). She died on June 30th at the age of 86. Sara and her husband Thomas Joseph Watkins were married 54 years at the time of his death in 2002. She leaves her sons Gregory and Timothy Watkins and daughters Claudia Hughey, Moire Wisdom, Elizabeth Watkins, Celeste Knapp, and Bridget Zaker. Sara also has nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 4-5 PM with a Memorial Service beginning at 5 PM at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, Oviedo Chapel.
