It is with profound sorrow, that we announce the passing of Rebecca Smith at the young age of 46. Rebecca quietly passed away at her home on October 1, 2024 surrounded by family, following a 2 year battle with cancer. She was an amazingly devoted wife and loving mother on unmatched levels . Her legacy of caring, compassion and strength will live on in the hearts of her family forever.
Rebecca was born on December 10, 1977 in Panama City, FL to Eddie & Sigurbjorg “Lilla” Smith. At the age of 1, her family moved to Oviedo, FL where she grew up. She graduated from Lake Howell High School in 1995, then earned her bachelor's degree at Rollins College in 1999 before going on to the University of Florida where she earned her master’s degree in Real Estate and Juris Doctor in 2002. Following law school, Rebecca started working for Orange County (FL) Government as a Land Use attorney. That experience started her 20 year career as a corporate attorney in the tourism industry, working for such companies as ARDA, Wyndham Vacations, The Walt Disney Company, Holiday Inn, NBC Universal and Gannett.
Rebecca met her loving husband, Ryan, on a blind date in February 2005. It was nearly love at first sight, as they were engaged a few months later and married in May 2006. The marriage was blessed by 3 children (Sienna – 2008, Cameron – 2011 & Landon – 2014) that were the love of her life. Despite being a career attorney, Rebecca was a mom first and made sure that her kids were showered with unwavering love, affection and always there for every important moment for her children.
Rebecca is survived by her husband of 18 years, Ryan, children, Sienna, Cameron & Landon; father, Eddie and brothers; Christopher, Darin & Eddie. Rebecca was predeceased by her mother and best friend, Sigurbjorg “Lilla” in May 2023.
Services for Rebecca will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 12:00 pm, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 2021 W. SR 426, Oviedo, FL 32765
