Marilyn Kay Elder, age 76, passed away on December 20, 2021. She was born on May 2, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri to Harry and Dorothy Allen. The family moved to St. Joseph, Missouri when Marilyn was two years old. She attended a nearby college and later met her husband, Gary Elder. They married on August 27, 1967 and had two children- a daughter, Gelinda Elder, and son, Jason Elder. Marilyn viewed her children as precious gifts from God and was passionate about being an amazing mother not only to her children, but also those around her.
After residing in various places, Marilyn and Gary settled in Ft. Myers, Florida, where they lived for 20 years. During her time in Ft. Myers, Marilyn was called to fulfill God's will. Marilyn was a Precept and Masterlife teacher at McGregor Baptist Church where she worked with women of all ages to learn about and understand the word of God. Marilyn was known as a person who always wanted the best for others. As a woman of faith, she loved and prayed over all those she knew, working to make a positive impact through God's work.
In 1999, Marilyn and Gary moved to Oviedo, Florida for Gary's job and to be closer to their daughter, Gelinda. While living in Oviedo, Marilyn Elder was an active member of the Oviedo Women’s Club. Through this organization, Marilyn socialized with new friends and participated in many activities- sewing, tea parties, Bunko, and volunteering. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and looked forward to events and get-togethers.
Marilyn cherished her time with family and friends and instilled a love of creating special memories. She especially enjoyed Sanibel Island, Disney experiences, game nights, holiday decorations and special meals. Marilyn embraced these moments and exemplified the importance of God and family.
Marilyn is survived by Gary Elder, husband of 53 years, and her daughter, Gelinda Elder. Marilyn was one of God’s angels on Earth and now is waiting to welcome you to heaven with our Lord and Savior.
