Killian Matthew Murphy, much loved son of Suzanne and Michael Murphy passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 1, 2022 in his long-time home in Oviedo, Florida, at the tragically young age of 31. He is survived by his parents, brothers Michael and Jackson, sisters Rebecca and Coci, sister-in-law Betsy, along with his young, and much beloved niece, Madison. Killian’s presence will most be missed by his family at the traditional and unshakable Sunday evening dinners where his experimental cooking never went without high praise.
Those who truly knew Killian would say that he was a kind, misunderstood soul who found solace in the companionship of animals and in the peace and respite of the outdoors. Be it cycling, kayaking, or fishing, Killian truly was a man, perhaps, not quite built for this world, but rather for some simpler, quieter time.
Undeniable is that where Killian’s true greatness shone most bright was in his selfless regard for animals. Killian possessed an almost preternatural sense of when an animal was alone or in distress and would uncover, rescue, and nurse some helpless creature discovered in an attic, a parking lot, a wheel well, some stray backroad, or any other unsafe space that he and these fellow residents of earth would somehow come to find each other.
Killian’s presence will surely be missed, but more importantly his memory will be cherished by all of those who were lucky enough to know even a few moments of his unique spirit.
A visitation will be held for Killian at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 6 from 9:30 to 11:00 followed by a short service. A reception will be held afterwards for all to celebrate Killian’s life at The Black Hammock Fish Camp at 2316 Black Hammock Fish Camp Road, Oviedo. Beginning at 1:00. Casual attire encouraged. In lieu of flowers, donations would be forever appreciated to Seminole County Animal Services.
