He was a US Air Force Master Sergeant first assigned to Security and Law Enforcement and later stationed at The Pentagon working directly under The Secretary of the Air Force. After retirement from the Air Force, he was a Civil Servant of the US Postal Service where he delivered mail for over twenty years. During his tenure as a postal carrier, John studied at Jones College earning a Bachelor of Science in Management making him the first in his family to graduate from college.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth M. Langenegger Kowalski, with whom he celebrated their
65th wedding anniversary in October; sons Richard and Eric; daughter Cheri; grandchildren Heather, Steven, Erica, Taylor, Mason, Joan, and Emily; great-grandchildren Connor and Keira; and sister Josephine Davis.
He was a strong-willed, life-long fighter who enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling, and spending time with family. John will be missed by many.
