Gertrude E Sauer

Gertrude (Gertie) E. Sauer died on August 9th, 2019 in her Winter Springs, Florida home. She was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1930. Married her husband George Sauer in 1952. They had 6 children that they raised in Ridgewood, Queens, New York till 2009 when she moved to Winter Springs, Florida to live with her daughter and her family.

Gertrude loved bowling and going to play Bingo. As she got older she loved to crochet. She crocheted numerous baby blankets for the NICU babies in Central Florida. She had a big heart and would help anyone that she came across. As her health declined her words that all the health care providers will remember her by are " I feel great", when asked how she is doing.

She is survived by her children: Patricia (Keith) Smith, Barbara (Walter) Matheric, George (Deborah) Sauer, Linda (Santos) Lugo and Thomas Sauer. Also 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband George Sauer, daughter Carolann Sauer and grandson Wayne Matheric.

A service will not be held at this time. She is being cremated and her ashes will be buried next to George and Carolann at Memorial Cemetery, in Deerfield, Florida. A memorial /celebration of life will be held near her 90th birthday in April 2020.
