

George Elias Akel is survived by his Wife, Sandra J. Akel; Daughters, Robin Knoppe (Spouse: George Knoppe) and Renee Piefer; “Son” Stephen V. Heck; Grandchildren, Daniel Piefer, Danielle Beckwith (Spouse David Beckwith), David Piefer, Stephen Heck, Brittney Knoppe, and Caitlin Knoppe; Sister-in-law, Michelle Morris (Spouse Duane Morris) and Sandra (Lukefahr) Akel; Nephews, Steven Akel (Spouse Karen Akel) and Shawn Rimmer (Spouse Anne Rimmer); and Niece, Shannon Rimmer (Spouse Joshua McKeand).
George Elias Akel is proceeded in death by his brother Joseph Akel; Brother in Law, Michael Kulik; and Nephew Joseph Akel Jr.
George Elias Akel was born on September 28, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to Elias and Dorothy Akel. He graduated from Highland Park High. He was involved in the Zulus Motorcycle Club with his Cousin Bud Shewell “Arab”. He married the love of his life Sandra (Kulik) Akel, on June 3rd, 1961. He was a warehouse worker, then moving into sales and lastly ended up owning his own business and thereafter retired. Over the span of 56 years, the couple welcomed 2 children into their home and George set about teaching them how to love life to the fullest. His children remember him as a kind, gentle, patient, and driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
He was a generous, witty, and dedicated individual who loved his family and who was passionate about his religion. He was an active and dedicated member of the Catholic Church and attended Most Precious Blood Church in Oviedo, Fl.
