Deborah Jean Dixon, 65, from south Florida but most recently of Edgewater, Florida, died March 31, 2019. She is survived by her husband, Michael A. Kanyuh; her siblings C. Way Hoyt and Shelley H. Hoyt; her nephews, Paul Mascharka, Robert Hoyt, and Gregory Deemer; and her great-nieces and -nephews Edward, Madeline, Brittany, Brooke, Brandon, Bobby, and Victor. She was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Way Hoyt; her sister Judy; and her nephew, Michael.
Debbie inherited a love of anything to do with nature from her mother - plants, animals, even insects - and she had great skill in photographing them; she would sometimes turn those nature pictures into customized greeting cards with humorous sayings. For many years she volunteered at the Caring Field and at the Martine County Humane Society, and she worked with the Native Plant Society. She had a keen interest in butterflies, establishing a butterfly-friendly environment and protecting caterpillars until they matured into butterflies. She and her husband, Mike, adopted many rescued animals, from a mule to mountain goats, and they fostered many cats over the years.
She also liked an occasional adventure - going skydiving or off on a trip to Shanghai. Debbie’s latest project was building up her muscles so she could win the next family arm wrestling contest.
Debbie was a great person, friend, and wife and we miss her.
Family and friends are invited to an informal lunch and memorial service at 1:00PM on April 27th, at 4140 Clinton Cemetery Road, Edgewater, FL .
