It is with great anguish that the McNamara family announces the unexpected passing of Daniel Louis McNamara, age 63, of Winter Springs, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa (Terry) McNamara, son Daniel (Christine) McNamara, grandson Dylan McNamara, daughter Meaghan McNamara, brothers Michael (Alicia) and John (Enid) McNamara, and many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the country. As a young man, Danny grew up in the Bronx where he met Terry in high school, his beloved wife, best friend, and the love of his life. Danny lived a full life as a devoted husband of over forty years, wonderful father and dedicated employee. He graduated from Lubin School of Business at Pace University while simultaneously working for JP Morgan Chase. He had an impressive and well-respected 40-year career at the bank and made many life-long friends there. Danny and Terry raised their children in Brewster, NY where they built a strong community of family and friends. He was exceptionally proud of his two children: he loved to boast about his son’s latest baseball achievement and volunteer firefighter work; or offer his encouragement and delight for his daughter’s participation in community orchestra. To his children, Danny’s relationship expanded beyond fatherhood to true companionship. Between long conversations about hopes and dreams, to funny texts and small moments in the day, Danny’s children were blessed by his presence alone.
Danny retired in 2019 in Florida, where he spent his days tending to his beautifully kept gardens, relaxing by his pool and jamming out to his favorite music in the garage. One of Danny’s favorite pastimes was taking Terry to “date-night” concerts(particularly Bruce Springsteen and Barry Manilow). Danny and Terry also enjoyed playing music trivia with family and friends. Some of the best nights though were quiet nights at home, listening to music and slow dancing with Terry. In his retired life, Danny enjoyed compiling a multitude of family photos into videos, featuring a main subject/theme and set to the soundtrack of their lives. These gifts will continue to be enjoyed, along with his heart, forever.
Danny spent his final years tending to his mother, Janet, and doting on his grandson, Dylan, who affectionately nicknamed him “Disney World Pop-Pop.” Being a grandfather made Danny the happiest man in the world. One of his favorite retirement activities included sending “Pop-Pop surprises” to Dylan in the mail just to make him smile. Danny was a gentle soul who will be most remembered for his sense of humor, kindness and his generosity to others. We love you Danny/Dad/Pop-Pop and we’ll meet again.
