“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
Matthew 22:37
Carolyn Marie White, 89, was born in Washington, DC and passed away with her loving family by her side on March 1, 2024 at her treasured horse farm and home in Oviedo, Fl. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father and mother Edward and Marguerite Janson and her siblings Lars Janson, Barbara Bucy, and Leonard Janson. Carolyn was married to Edwin White in 1954 (69 1/2 years) at the 1st Baptist Church Orlando. She is survived by her husband Ed and sons Don White, Oviedo and Lars White and daughter in law Gale White, Oviedo, grandchildren David White, wife Kim and Lauren White Stolfo, husband Spencer and great granddaughter Marigold.
Carolyn was raised in Alexandria, VA and her family moved to Central Florida in the early 1950’s. Carolyn was blessed with a love for animals at a young age and especially horses having her first pony as a young girl. This passion would grow later in life as Carolyn and Ed created Tally Ho Farms in the Black Hammock area in Oviedo in the late 1960’s where they boarded, trained, taught lessons for many years. Carolyn’s vibrant red hair reflected her character and few if any horses ever got the best of her. They opened the “Equestrian Horse Tack Shop” in Oviedo in the 1970’s. Carolyn an Ed hosted horse shows at Tally Ho Farms which were recognized as among the finest competitive shows in the region. Their stable and farm was the most desirable place to board and take riding lessons due to Carolyn’s reputation and the love Carolyn and Ed and sons gave to each and every horse. Carolyn was awarded “Senior Champion in 1978–1979 by the Central Florida Dressage Association, the 1983 Arabian Horse Association Dressage Champion and was President of the Central Florida Dressage Association from1982–1985. Carolyn was blessed with a natural talent and was respected among the horse profession as the premier trainer in the region. She was a professional in competitive open jumping, 100-mile endurance riding in Florida and North Carolina and was an exceptional dressage rider and instructor. Most importantly was her work with her students and the impact she had on their formative and adult years. Her students often excelled in competition as a result of her teaching and training and most importantly how to love life and fellow people. Carolyn was especially proud to have raised two sons and introduced them into their respective successful youthful horse years. In the late 1970’s, Carolyn and Ed relocated and built a new horse farm on Chapman Rd in Oviedo and once again continued the love for horses and their riders. They spent many years carefully landscaping the estate and enjoying their daily view of a beautiful lake and enjoying all of God’s amazing animals and wildlife. Carolyn and Ed ran this horse farm for 30+ years only slowing down as she began her journey with dementia where Ed was the best caregiver you could ever imagine.
Carolyn was a woman of great faith, a Christian, a prayer warrior, having set an example of love for life, people, children and her entire family. Carolyn was faithful in service to our Lord and served her entire life faithfully. She was talented playing the piano and later learned the guitar. She loved holidays with great passion and especially Christmas as Carolyn and Ed decorated the home and estate with beautiful outdoor lighting, a handmade nativity scene and Christmas carolers. Carolyn loved the large family gathering on Christmas day celebrating with food, music and gifts among her loving family. She particularly loved baking holiday treats from scratch and the joy of gifting to family and friends. Carolyn and Ed would host large Sunday School gatherings at their home as well. Carolyn once hosted a field trip day at the horse farm for an assisted living facility residents including her mother which was shown on a local news channel. Carolyn adored her children, grandchildren and always made every family gathering special with attention to the smallest details. Carolyn and Ed loved taking several vacations and staying at Disney World among her grandchildren not missing a minute of their joy. She was blessed to have met her great granddaughter shortly before her passing. The entire family wishes to extend our sincere and heartfelt gratitude for the words of comfort during this difficult time.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held on March 28th, 5pm visitation, 6pm celebration of life service at the Oviedo Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home located at 501 E. Mitchell Hammock Rd, Oviedo.
