William Joseph "Bill" Rohleder, Sr.

William Joseph Rohleder, 79, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Villa St. Joseph. He was born in Atchison, Kansas on March 5, 1934, and grew up attending St. Benedict’s Grade School, Maur Hill High School (Class of ’52), and St. Benedict’s College, later graduating from Rockhurst College. His career spanned forty-four years as an auditor with the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, retiring in 2000. He was a long-time member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, contributing his time and talents to Boy Scout Troop 295 and the CYO sports programs at the school.

He leaves his children, spouses and their families: Jay Rohleder (Karen), Cathy Hegarty (Michael), Steve Rohleder (Aimeé), Kristin Pecot (Ken), Paul Rohleder (Mary), Monica Rieger (Mark) and Camille Elmore (Kyle). He also leaves his special friend, Donna Hruska; a nephew, Larry Farrell; 35 wonderful grandchildren, 2 beautiful great-granddaughters and a great-grandchild due to arrive in July. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; parents, William and Clara Rohleder; brother, Harold Rohleder; brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Norine Farrell; and nephew, David Farrell.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 5:00–7:30 PM at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, with the Rosary at 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7023 West 71st Street in Overland Park on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery will follow the Mass.

The family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Villa St. Joseph for the kindness and companionship they have shown Bill these past few months. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory can be made to Sanctuary of Hope, Kansas City, Kansas or John Paul II Catholic School, Overland Park, Kansas.
