Sherrill S. Rosenstock

Born on Flag Day, June 14, 1941, to Francis and Fred Sixta. A perfect day for her!

Destined to be a political, a social and a history lover from birth.

As a child, Sherrill, had many good friends and loved to play baseball with the boys. If girls had a future in the major league, she would have been a player. She graduated from Paseo High School in 1959 and after "HER BOYS" were in school she went to college and graduated from the University of Kansas, in Lawrence in 1982.

While attending a Saturday morning service, she happened to sit next to a young man and the rest is history. Sherrill Sixta married Richard Rosenstock on February 4, 1962. They were married for 59 years until Richard's passing last year. Sherrill's pride and joy were her two boys, Allan, and David. They gave her additional joys; four beautiful granddaughters, one handsome grandson and another handsome grandson in-law. She had a front row seat to attend all programs and sports events of her grandchildren. She was so very proud of them.

Sherrill got to see her oldest granddaughter get married. She was so excited to see them under the chuppah and get a beautiful dress and sparkling Kate Spade tennis shoes herself to walk down the aisle prior to the bride.

She got to see all her grandchildren as adults and know their accomplishments.

Sherrill was extremely involved with The National Council of Jewish Women and was the Central District President in 1978 and 1979. Sherrill also was passionate about helping Russian Jewish families immigrate to the United States. Sherrill spent a large part of her life working in politics and social movements. She helped lead many campaigns for many social movements and electoral candidates on the state and national level, including senators, presidents, congressman, and mayors in Johnson County. Sherrill was a para legal for many years but once she got the real estate bug, that was where she shined. Helping countless individuals find their dream home. She made many of friends and repeat/referral customers throughout the years. She and Richard worked together in real estate prior to their retirement.

Sherrill loved KU Basketball and Football, Royals Baseball, and our Kansas City Chiefs. She had an extensive library filled with Judaic, historical, and political biographies. Along with a wonderful collection of old movies and musicals which she enjoyed watching and sharing with her grandchildren. Other than Kansas, Florida was her favorite state. Sherrill and Richard would vacation and enjoy the beach annually for many years. Sherrill loved cats and owned many Abyssinians, Siamese, American short haired and shelter cats throughout her married life.

Sherrill was strong willed and fought her diagnosis of Alzheimer's and the debilitating symptoms for many years with strength and humor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws Al and Bertha Rosenstock, Mary Edna and Harvey Doud who she loved dearly and considered family,and her husband Richard who passed in June of last year.

Sherrill leaves behind a loving family: Son, Allan (aka Allie) and his wife Jackie (aka Jack), Son, David and his wife Sandy. Six wonderful grandchildren! Allan and Jackie’s children: Ashly and Gary, Lizzy, and Nick; and David and Sandy’s children: Rachel and Lauren, and dear friends, Lesley Kennedy, Lorraine Vaughan, and Patricia Sanditz.

To honor our Mom and Grandma we are hosting a "Jayhawk Girl Remembrance"

from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, May 7th at: GRID, 12022 Blue Valley Pkwy, Overland Park, Kansas 66213. Please wear something crimson, blue, or yellow!

Family wishes to thank Lekeisha Mitchell and the entire staff at Homestead of Olathe Memory Care. Their loving care provided Mom with joy and comfort for the past nine months. There are too many names to list, so we thank you all. Thank you to Faith Hospice. e are very grateful to both of their teams.
