Robert "Gene" Stodghill

Robert E. “Gene” Stodghill, 66, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 5 at McGilley & Hoge Memorial Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care.

Gene was born on April 20, 1948 in Orange, TX. He married his loving wife, Kay Kohlmeyer, on August 23, 1975. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. From Vietnam to Antarctica, he served his country proudly. Gene loved the outdoors; whether it was catching fish with his son and brother-in-law on the lake, or catching fast pitch in the backyard with his daughter, he was at peace with his family in nature.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary, his brother, Gary, and sisters Betty and Susie. He is survived by his brothers, Butch and Rick, his sister, Barbara, his beloved wife, Kay, his children, Kara, Ryan, and Mary Lynne, and grandchildren, Arianna and Jesse. Gene’s spirit, compassion, and sense of humor will be sorely missed. All the bass in the surrounding lakes are breathing a sigh of relief.
