Patrick Edwin Kelly, age 83, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016. Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Thursday, September 1st at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel with a reception following the service at the chapel. Graveside service will be 2:30 pm on Thursday, September 1st at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe, KS. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 31st at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel. Patrick was born on December 1, 1932 in Salina, KS to Dallas Kelly and Catherine Trow Kelly. He moved to Overland Park, KS in 1947. He attended Overland Park Elementary School and graduated from Shawnee Mission Rural High School in 1951. Pat married his High School Sweetheart, Ruth Jolliff on December 23, 1951. He enlisted in the Navy in December of 1952. He and his wife lived in San Diego, CA during his time in the Navy. They had three sons, Michael born in 1954, Timothy born in 1957 and James born in 1960, after they returned to Overland Park. Pat worked for the Overland Park Post Office as a Letter Carrier until he transferred to a Rural Route in Edgerton, KS. After 20 years in Edgerton, he transferred to a Rural Route in Louisburg, KS, where he retired from the Post Office in 1988. He and his wife owned Kelly’s Retail Liquor Store from 1995 until 2006, when they both retired. Pat was a member of the Lenexa Masonic Lodge #135, Adda Chapter #467 Order of the Eastern Star (Past Patron), Scottish Rite, Abdallah Shrine and the Legion of Honor Abdallah Shrine (Past Commander). Pat was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Kelly. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, Timothy Kelly and his wife, Mieke and James Kelly and his wife, Amy; his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Kelly; six grandchildren, Bryan Kelly and his wife, Melinda, Megan Kelly Schulte and her husband, Michael, Melissa Kelly Dubin and her husband, Anthony “TJ”, Kayla Kelly, Jamie Kelly and Corey Kelly; and three great-grandchildren, Jack Alan Kelly, Oliver Kent Schulte, and Guy Gordon Kelly.
