Patrice was born in Van Nuys, California on March 17, 1960, St. Patricks Day. The Korek family moved to Overland Park in 1965 just up the street from Katherine Carpenter Elementary School. They experienced the tornado and their house received heavy damage. The family lived at Glenwood Manor Motel, while their house was being repaired.
Patrice was from the graduating class of 1978 of Shawnee Mission West High School. She spent her summers for close to 10 years working with her Mother, Joan and her two sisters, Julie and Debbie as Red Cross certified swimming instructors. They taught many kids how to swim in their backyard pool.
She was a seamstress and was taught the right way of doing things while working at Sears at the Metcalf South location. After getting married on July 6, 1985 to Jay she worked for Tom James Clothier Company in Little Rock Arkansas. Then after moving back to Overland Park in 1995, she opened her own company called Patrice’s Threads based out of the front room of her home.
She loved to read. Dean Koonts and Stephen King were a few of her favorite authors. Patrice was a big Kansas City Chiefs fan, Royals fan and Jayhawk basketball fan. She enjoyed going to the games and watching them on TV with Jay and her son, Rolli. Patrice enjoyed camping and boating on lakes in Arkansas, Missouri and Wisconsin.
Patrice was a competitive card game player. She always looked forward to “Girls Week”. A week spent with her Mother and sister’s playing cards and games.
She was the loving daughter of Dick and Joan Korek, the sister of Debbie Price and Julie Korek, the wife of Jay Rollins and the mother of Rolli Rollins. Patrice was the sister-in-law of Mike Price, Ron and Dianne Rollins, and the Aunt of Greg Rollins, Brooks Eastman and Donovan Eastman.
She no longer suffers from the body that was failing her. She is now joined with our son and is looking down upon her family and friends with a smile.
