Mary Ann Wilkes

Mary Ann Wilkes of Overland Park, Kansas died April 7, 2022 after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. Mary Ann was born September 26, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas to Walter and Margaret (Gabriel) Zawada. She graduated from Ward High School and Donnelly College in Kansas City, Kansas.

She married Anthony Wilkes on September 6, 1969. Mary Ann enjoyed working as a bank teller after her youngest daughter started school. She loved spending time with her grandkids, the mountains of Colorado, KU basketball, holidays (especially Christmas), and making friends everywhere she went. She was a member of St. Ursula’s circle at Queen of the Holy Rosary.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings Kevin Zawada and Kathy Lynch.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Anthony "Tony" Wilkes; her children, David Wilkes (Katie), Anne Moore (Travis) and Sharon Wilkes; her grandchildren, Anna Wilkes, Alyssa Wilkes, Brett Osterhaus, Alaina Wilkes, Logan Moore, and Payten Moore; her siblings, Sharon Zawada, Fran Filkens, Teresa Soverns, Carl Zawada, Larry Zawada, Dee Conde and Robert Zawada; sibling in-laws Peggy Anderson, Ellen and Mark Simon, Tom Wilkes and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 19th, 2022 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 19th, 2022 at 10:30 am.
