Mary Ann Sullivan, 88, of Overland Park, KS passed the evening of May 3rd, 2016 with her children at her bed side. She was born in Kansas City, MO on May 27th, 1927 to Thomas and Kathryn O’Donnell, one of five children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ward, eldest son Michael, a sister Kathryn Ross of Kent, WA, and a brother Tom O’Donnell of Vallejo, CA .
Mary Ann worked a few jobs in her early life, including as an usherette at the Uptown Theatre, Shutte Lumber, and as an operator at Southwestern Bell. In 1946, she married Ward Sullivan, became a home maker and together they would eventually move to Overland Park and start a family. Mary Ann was a devout Catholic throughout her life and until her later years attended mass regularly at Church of the Holy Cross. She went to work later at Hardees and then Trailwood Elementary food services. After Ward’s passing in 1991, she became a member of Unos. She believed in helping the needy through donations, and volunteering with the American Red Cross, and preparing food at the City Union Mission. Mary Ann was also an avid KC sports fan. She could be found playing a game of solitaire while listening to the Royals on the radio. She was a season ticket holder for many years and loved to watch the Chiefs play.
Mary Ann will be dearly missed as a Mother, Grandmother and friend.
She leaves behind a daughter, Maureen Hubbard of Olathe, a son Terry Sullivan of Overland Park; sister Patricia Harris of Ft Worth, TX, and brother Mike O’Donnell of Seattle, WA; grandchildren Christy Faber, Stephen Hubbard, Ryan Sullivan, Michael Hubbard and Rachael Hubbard.
A visitation at 10am will occur just prior to an 11am mass on Monday, May 9th at Church of the Holy Cross in Overland Park. A burial service will immediately follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
