

Mary Faith Buresh Holzer, LMC was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Donnabell Faith Buffer and Lumir Francis Buresh. Mary Faith attended Prairie Village, KS Elementary, Indian Hills Junior High, and Shawnee Mission East High schools. Her English, Philosophy and Religion degrees from Drury University were used for writing for the Drury newspaper and later writing and publishing four inspirational books.
Mary Faith and husband Jack lived in Overland Park for over 39 years before Jack’s passing in 2018. Mary Faith and Jack sponsored four African children and four Mexican children through the Christian Foundation for Children. As adults now they have remained close to Mary Faith. Vincent is a Catholic priest in Uganda; his sister Maggie finished college in Uganda; Amos finished his college work in Kenya, is married with children; Franklin is working on his Master’s degree in E-Commerce in Kenya. Mary Faith was employed by Social Security, assistant buyer for Jones Department store, and later organized banquets for several Kansas City hotels.
Mary Faith was an active member of Guardian Angels and later Holy Cross Catholic Parish. She studied briefly with the Carmelite sisters. She was an active pro-life supporter of the Gabriel Project. She has been a benefactor of Saint Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity and the Contemplative priests and brothers. A few weeks before her death Mary Faith professed her vows as a Lay Missionary of Charity.
Mary Faith was a prayerful, loving and generous sister, wife, aunt, and good friend to many.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John Alex Buresh; and her husband, Jack.
She is survived by her four sponsored adults; two sisters -in- law, Tina Buresh and Jill Holzer Gibson; nephews, Chris (wife Catherine) and James (wife Aliona) Buresh, Matthew (wife Malori) Nguyen, Chase (wife Teresa) Nguyen, and Chad (wife Sara) Lee; niece, Erica Buresh and thirteen great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Mary Faith to Gabriel Project at Holy Cross Parish, or Lay Missionaries of Charity, c/o Joan Kick, 3 Richconn Drive, New Milford, CT 06776.
A visitation for Mary will begin 9:30 AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Church of the Holy Cross, 8311 W. 93rd Street, Overland Park, Kansas. Burial will immediately follow in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
