Friends and family visitation will be Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at McGilley & Hoge Johnson County Memorial Chapel from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to KCPT or a charity of your choice.
A private family service will be held on Tuesday at McGilley & Hoge Johnson County Memorial Chapel at 11:30 a.m. (the private service will be livestreamed) and a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66210.
Ken was born on January 2, 1926 in Rye, NY. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in World War II before attending Yale University in New Haven, CT, where he graduated in 1950 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a licensed civil engineer in multiple states and worked his entire career with the former Austin Company for almost 40 years before his retirement. His career took Ken and his family from Chicago, IL to Southern California and finally to Lenexa, KS. Ken remained very active during his retirement. He was an avid mall walker and he and Marilyn enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad to visit family, friends, and exciting destinations. Ken was a faithful member of Asbury Methodist Church in Prairie Village, KS since 1983.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Blanche Myles of Newtown, CT; and his sister, Blanche Evans of Stanford, CT. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Marilyn Myles; three devoted daughters, Kim Burchstead (Steve) of Overland Park, KS, Claudia Worley (Clay) of Clifton, VA, and Stacy Cope (Warren) of Olathe, KS; adoring grandchildren, Andrew Worley, Paige Burchstead Paulson, Sarah Worley, Evan Burchstead, Melina Cope Stewart, Brooke Worley, Brian Worley, Brent Burchstead, Colin Cope, Shelby Cope, and Hayley Cope; and brother, Douglas Myles (Ann) of Fullerton, CA.
