Kenneth Ray Bennett, 73, passed away December 9, 2012, at home with his family by his side. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at McGilley and Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kan. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 16000 W. 143rd St., Olathe, Kan. Interment will follow Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, 83rd and Quivira. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to ASPCA or the Shriners Children's Hospital. He was born July 31, 1939, in Joplin, Mo., to Paul Eli Bennett and Eva Karch Bennett. Ken graduated from Westport High School in 1957, and he entered the Air Force in 1961. In 1963, he married Shirley Wonderly and shared almost 42 years with her. Ken was very proud of his affiliation with the Ararat Shrine, and enjoyed 20 years helping children. Ken will be remembered for his love of cars and his loyalty to his family and friends. Ken is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Bennett and his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (John) Kriks, two grandchildren, and his significant other, Janet Nickerson. He also has many nieces and nephews and extended family that loved him.
