Kathleen Ann Flaherty, 98, of Mission, Kansas was born January 13, 1925 in Kansas City, Kansas, and passed on October 16, 2023. She was the daughter of Adolph P. Herzig and Mary Teresa (McNamara) Herzig. She attended St. Benedict’s grade school and Bishop Ward High School and graduated in 1942.
Kathleen married Leo Edward Flaherty on December 28, 1949 in St Benedict’s church. Leo passed on September 14, 1981.
Kathleen worked at the B-25 Bomber plant during World War II and at Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU) after the war. She worked at Trans World Airlines in the early 50s; Eisen Mercantile in the 60s; and the IRS Service Center in the 70s. She then worked for the US Department of Agriculture until she retired.
Kathleen was a longtime member of Saint Pius X Catholic Church and Saint Valentine circle. She enjoyed playing bridge, and one of her favorite memories was being a Cub Scout den mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Joseph F Herzig; and sisters, Helen Muckenthaler and Mary Moran.
She is survived by son, Michael Flaherty (Martha); grandsons, Christopher and Patrick Arthur and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Kathleen will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 9:30 AM, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5500 Woodson Road, Mission, Kansas 66202. A committal service will immediately follow Mass in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
