Joseph L. “Joe” Williams, 70, passed away January 14, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 30, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Lee Williams and Jewell L. (Sherrer) Cantrell.
Joe attended Westport High School. He had an extensive career as a maintenance engineer and retired from Best Harvest Bakery in Kansas City, Kansas. Joe loved spending time with his family and traveling with his wife, Barb. He loved cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas University’s Basketball team. He took pride in being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved deeply, gave great advice and had the best sense of humor.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James and Jerry Williams; and sisters, June Loomis and Jessie Hicks.
Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara Williams; daughter, Christy Reeder (Jay); son, Joey Williams; stepdaughters, Valarie Oliver (Scott), Stephanie Miller (Bub) and Carie Luttrell; eight grandchildren, Kaylee Petrie (Kannon), Devon Fornal, Christopher Luttrell, Raye Fierro-Rodriguez (Tah’Di) , Mackenzie Maxey, Gradey, Haddie and Gage Miller; brothers, John Williams (Lois) and Jeffrey Williams; and sisters, Janet Jackson and Pat Nance (Bill).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to American Cancer Society.
A celebration of life service for Joe will be held 2pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at McGilley & Hoge Johnson County Memorial Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS 66204.
