Joan Marie Parks, age 85, of Leavenworth, Kansas peacefully entered the arms of Jesus on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Visitation will be from 10-11 am on Wednesday, October 11th at the Fortress of Faith Christian Church, 2700 Wilson Avenue, Leavenworth, Kansas 66048. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am at the Church. Burial in Mount Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, Kansas. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Church, Children’s Mercy Hospital, or Leavenworth Mission Community Store.
Joan was born on January 10, 1938 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Addison Lamm Logan and Grace Ethel (Spaethe) Logan. She graduated from Leavenworth High School. Joan met James Darrell Parks in Grade School and they were married on June 2, 1958.
Joan kept the family together. She was the family genealogist and keeper of all family news and documentation. She was an amazing cook and hostess. Joan loved her family dearly and cherished every moment spent with them. She and her brother, Jerry organized the Logan Family Reunion every year.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Darrell Parks; her sister, Betty Smith and her brother, Addison “Bud” Logan; and longtime family friend and companion, George Hill.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherri Harper and her husband, Bob of Olathe, Kansas and sons, Jimmy “Bo” Parks of Leavenworth, Kansas and Darrell W. Parks, Overland Park, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Michelle Parks, Leawood, Kansas; grandchildren, Bobbie Harper of Overland Park, Kansas, Chris Harper of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, Andrew Parks (Brandi), Lindsey Parks (Bobby), Brandy Flack (Wyatt) all of Leavenworth, Kansas and Grace Parks of Leawood, Kansas; great grandchildren, Anthony Malloy (Jasmin), Nathan Malloy, Addison Harper, Maddie Parks, Emma Parks, Abby Parks, Gracelyn Parks, Tanner Chmidling, Reece Tavis, Brice Tavis, Deegan Flack and Maverick Flack; and great great grandchildren, James Malloy and Ava Malloy. Joan is also survived by her brother, Jerry Logan and his wife, Ruth; and many nieces and nephews and a host of extended family members and friends.
