James “Scott” Mills, 67, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away on December 6, 2019. Memorial service will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 14th at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas 66204.
Scott was born April 14, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1971. Soon after, he attended the Columbia School of Broadcasting and spent time working at a local radio station. He was also interested in modeling and had found some success in that field. In the early 70’s, Scott moved to Florida, where he married and lived until he returned to his hometown in 2017. Scott was an animal lover, car enthusiast and loved rock & roll music, especially The Who. He also had an interest in aviation. He would park near the airport to watch planes takeoff and land. Being in Florida, he was able to watch several Space Shuttle launches. He loved being by the ocean and enjoyed canoeing, boating and spending time at the beach with friends. He also enjoyed the cuisine of Florida. His favorites were Cuban sandwiches and Thermo Nuclear hot wings.
Scott was also an organ donor. His donations will help to improve the lives of two others.
He was preceded in death by his father, Horace "Wayne" Mills and brother, Howard "Skip" Mills. He is survived by his mother, Mary Koehler; brother and sister-in-law, William "Bill" Mills and Donna Rasco; sister-in-law, Barbara Smith; three cousins; and many nieces, nephews, step-nieces and step-nephews.
He will forever be loved and missed.
