Arrangements under the direction of McGilley & Jacqueline Gore Edgar was born on July 26, 1921, in Pittsburg, Kan. She passed away April 4, 2010, following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, at Church of St. Ann, 7231 Mission Road, Prairie Village, Kan. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kan. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park.
Jacque was born in Pittsburg. She graduated from Pittsburg High School and from Kansas State Teachers College, now Pittsburg State University. She began her teaching career in 1954 at St. Ann School and later taught at Cure' of Ars School. In 1966, she began teaching at Overland Park School and retired in 1989. She was married in 1942 to Walter F. Edgar. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage until his death in 1991. Jacque lived in Prairie Village from 1954 until her death. She has been a member of St. Ann Catholic Church for 56 years and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and University Women. Jacque was dedicated to her family. Initially, her devotion focused on her husband and children, later expanding to 10 grandchildren, and finally to include six great grandchildren. Her great- grandchildren called her "GG." She greeted everyone with a smile and made friends instantly. She was well known for her wonderful sense of humor.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter F. Edgar, by her father, John W. Gore, and by her mother, Ellen Murphy Gore. She is survived by her son, John M. Edgar and his wife Mary; by her daughters, Jane Korsten and her husband Gerald, Ellen Schmidt and her husband Bob and Jacqueline Austin and her husband Kerry. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John F. Edgar, his wife Keiko and daughters Isabella and Emma; David W. Edgar, his wife Andrea and their children Shannon, David, Jr., and Aisling; Sarah Bochicchio, her husband Nicholas III and their son, Nicholas IV; Anne Korsten; Ruth Korsten; Robert Schmidt; Patrick Schmidt; Andrew Austin and his wife Shannon; Cameron Austin; and Quinn Austin.
