Pat married Charles Pierce on April 18, 1948, and they spent 59 wonderful years together until his passing on September 1, 2007. Charlie and Pat had 2 children, Hal born in 1949 and Kathy born in 1951. Pat’s calling in life was that of the ultimate volunteer. She first started volunteering for the Head Start Program and continued there for 18 years. Pat became exceedingly interested in art and volunteered as a Docent for the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, for over 26 years. She loved the Museum and spent a tremendous number of hours conducting tours. When not at the Museum, she would be studying and preparing for the next exhibit. Her final volunteer position was for the Johnson County Library, which she did for 2 years.
Pat loved all genres of music from classical to The Beatles and she was a professional singer for a period of time. She was also passionate about reading and was never without a book, or three, close by.
One of the many things her family loved about her was her use of colloquialisms and she had many. Just to name a few of her favorites, “well I declare”, “I am as happy as a pig in sunshine”, “is there a cow in Texas”, “oh fiddlesticks” and of course “hark”.
Pat leaves behind her son, Hal Pierce and his wife, Celeste; her daughter, Kathy Wolfe and her husband, Dan; four grandchildren, Chris Dolan, Hallie Richter and her husband, Tom, Aaron Pierce, Zach Pierce and his wife, Christina; and five great grandchildren, Leigh Dolan, Grace Dolan, Scarlett Richter, Theo Richter and Daphne Pierce.
We would like to thank the staff at Sharon Lane Rehabilitation for the friendship and care that she received.
We would also like to acknowledge the Harbor Hospice staff for their compassionate care and kindness.
Visitation will be from 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the McGilley and Hoge Johnson County Memorial Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS 66204, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM.
Rest in peace Nanny.
