I'm sad to know I searched too late, but I am thankful to have found Dear Mr. Schmidt. He was my teacher at Don Bonjour elementary and to this day, he is the most memorable teacher I have ever had. Every class was fun and he clearly cared so deeply, while always challenging me to do my best. I will never forget him.
Although it is very late, my condolences for his family.

Dear Ellen  I was scherching for a way to reconnect , and came across this. I am so very sorry to hear about Bob.  I know it's been over a year now but can only hope his loving and caring spirit can bring you comfort. I am in Orlando , but would love to hear how you and your boys   Are doing. To the entire Bob Schmidt family, I want to wish you the comfort and peace in this time of sorrow.  I was a High School classmate of Bob's and also followed the wheat harvest one summer a long time ago.  I am only sorry I didn't get to know him in our later years.  An old friend

Mr. Schmidt has been my substitute since kindergarten. I love how positive he was at school. A lot of times he taught us off of his own plan, to keep my teacher in bed and not in class. I am so thankful that I got to be taught by such an amazing man. All my prayers are with his family, and thank you for taking care of this magnificent human being.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Mr. Schmidt was the best sub I've ever had he had such a big heart and was so sweet. I wish he could have stayed longer but he's in a better place now! :)

Just recently reflecting  back on years of teaching with you and Bob at Brookridge Elementary and remembering his calm and patient ways with his students.  He always had time for a "summer combine harvest" story. I wish to express my sincere sympathies to Ellen and the Schmidt family. As a teacher at Ray Marsh Elementary, I was fortunate to know Bob for the past ten years. He was a kind-hearted gentleman who served as a wonderful role model to students and teachers. His dedication to the profession of education was evident in his work ethic, reliability, patience, and humor. When my son died unexpectedly several years ago, Bob stepped-in to teach my classes. I can still recall Pam Lewis, my principal, telling me that Bob would be coming. It was a gift of peace of mind that I will always remember.

My sympathies to you, Ellen, and family.  Bob was one of my favorite teaching partners at Bonjour Elem.  We shared some good times together!  I will treasure the memories of his quick wit, brutal honesty,  and advice we shared with each other!   He was a treasure.

Bob was not only an incredible teacher but a dear friend. All of us at Ray Marsh Elementary will miss him greatly.  He was a beloved member of our school family and a kind, thoughtful man.  My deepest sympathy on your loss.

Bob was someone that we could always count on to teach, as we would, when we needed a master teacher to be with our class. Ellen - Your Rosehill family is holding you and your family in our prayers and know that God is holding you in the palm of His loving hands.

What a wonderful teacher Bob was! My son was his student in the 5th grade back in 1987-88 at Bonjour. My son learned not only what you expect such as reading, writing, and math from him, but many life lessons most importantly to work hard at whatever you do and to love it.
