Betty A. Hodes

Betty A. Hodes, 85, went to join her beloved husband, Bob, on July 11th, 2013. Visitation will be from 6-7:45pm, followed by a Rosary, on Monday, July 22nd at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Dr., Overland Park, KS. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am Tuesday, July 23rd, at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7023 W. 71st St., Overland Park, KS. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.

Betty was born in Effingham, KS, August 11th 1927 to James & Marceline Trompeter. She married the love of her life, Bob Hodes, August 18th, 1951, who preceded her in death on February 8th, 2010. Betty had a deep love of family, raising 4 boys and 6 grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with Bob, and together they pulled their Airstream trailer through nearly every state in the nation as well as Mexico and Canada. Bob and Betty also traveled to Europe and Japan.

Betty loved serving others, and spent much of her time volunteering at St. Mary’s Food Kitchen, to which contributions can be made in lieu of flowers.

Along with Bob, Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John, Pat, Jim, and Tom, and is survived by her sister Mary Stack, brothers Larry (Judy) Trompeter, Gerald (Sharon) Trompeter, sons Daniel (Yoshimi), Steve (Brenda), Phillip (Judy), Ken (Dawn), and grandchildren Spencer, William, Kevin, Liz, Nick, and Taylor.
