Benny D. Miller of Shawnee, Kansas passed away on March 22, 2023, at his home. He was born February 3, 1938 in Newton, Kansas to Everett Miller and Ida Mae (Brown) Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Louie Miller and Mickey Hacker.
On September 4, 1965, he married Ariona Giesbrecht. To this union, three daughters were born: Nicole Hicks (Alan), Danielle Miller-Cordry (Jason) and Alexa Ferguson (Josh). They all survive him as well as many beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He attended Newton High School, Otero Junior College, and Washburn University. He served in the Air Force from 1959-1965 and was stationed in the Azores, where he was part of the rescue and recovery team. He enjoyed a long career in the Communications Department of the AT&SF Railroad. In retirement, he worked for Pitney Bowes as well as six years as lay pastoral minister and elder for Crossroads Christian Church in Shawnee, Kansas. His favorite job was director of the Miller Family Grand Camp.
Ben was a faithful husband, a devoted believer, and a loving father to his daughters. He cherished his grandchildren and kept them both enthralled and groaning at his stories, songs and play acting.
Ben was an amateur actor, storyteller and had a smile and greeting for all. His wife and family will miss him but know he is safely cared for in the loving arms of Jesus.
A visitation for Benny will be held 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, March 31, 2023, followed by his celebration of life service at 2:00 PM at Crossroads Christian Church, 5855 Renner Road, Shawnee, Kansas 66217. Memorial Contributions may be given in his memory to Crossroads Christian Church.
