Yvonne is survived by her children; Elisa (Patrick), Christina (Paul), Michael, Joshua, and Greg; and her grandchildren, Nykia, Jelani, Jalen, Eliana, and Ethan.
Yvonne was born in Glengoff, Jamaica on December 5, 1951 to the late Eugeta Mary Dell Blair and Eric Blair. She graduated from the Jamaica Commercial Institute College. At the age of 18 she moved to Ottawa, Canada from Spanish Town, Jamaica. She worked in various occupational settings, but she thoroughly enjoyed her position with CHEO as an Environmental Services Attendant.
Yvonne enjoyed cooking and baking traditional Jamaican dishes. She was known to have a green thumb, and could be found in her garden maintaining her plants and flowers. She loved watching specific television shows such as Christian TV, Jamaica News Network, Jeopardy, The Shopping Channel and Judge Judy. While during the winter months, she would vacation back to the house she built in her hometown of Jamaica.
She was a very spiritual person and enjoyed attending church service. She made it a family tradition that her children all attended weekly church service and lived by the word of the Lord. She always liked trying new restaurants in the Ottawa area with her family and friends. She is well known for building deep-rooted and positive community relationships within the Ottawa area. She will be missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
The family will receive friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road) from 6-9 pm on Thursday, January 6, 2021 due to covid-19 restrictions, capacity limits are in place, please call the funeral home at 613-737-7900 to schedule your attendance. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 7th, 2022 in the Chapel of McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home by invitation only and will available for all to view at https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/43126. Pastor Bryan D. Williams to officiate. Government issued proof of double vaccination will be still be required to attend the visitation and the Funeral Service. Entombment will follow at Hope Cemetery for the immediate family only. Flowers, donations, and condolences may be offered at 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, Ontario K1V 1A6 or donations can be made to the Myeloma Canada Research Foundation.
