It is with great sadness we announce the passing of William Eagles on April 10, 2025 at the age of 91. Born on April 26, 1933, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, William lived a life filled with love, family and cherished memories.
William married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Jeanette Peters 69 years ago and together they built a beautiful family and life. He was the devoted father of Jean Sabourin (Guy), Janice Aberdeen (Les), Carolann Wilson, Michael Eagles (Linda), and Bill Eagles (Ute). His love and laughter continue through his grandchildren; Ellie, Mark, Greg, Derek, Alison, Issiah, Ryan (Stephanie), Chantal and Brandon, all of whom he adored deeply.
William's journey began in Southern Ontario, but his heart stretched across every road to Nova Scotia, where countless summers were spent with his beloved family, traveling together in their cherished trailer. He and his life partner—together since the age of 12—shared a bond that few are lucky enough to find: soul mates destined to walk through life hand in hand, forever.
In his younger days, William was an avid bowler, always ready for a challenge and a good laugh. In later years, he became a puzzle expert, spending quiet moments solving pieces with the same patience and care he gave to those around him.
He was a passionate sports fan, forever loyal to the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Yankees, cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm. But beyond sports, it was the simple joys that brought him the most comfort: a hot coffee and sweet treat from the bakery, a good deal at Giant Tiger, and the sound of country music filling the cab of his beloved Ford F-150.
William lived a life full of love, laughter, and everyday magic. His presence was steady, his smile warm, and his heart enormous. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
A visitation will be held on Thursday April 17th from 12pm – 2pm at McEvoy-Shields Funeral home, 1411 Hunt Club Road. Chapel service at 2pm followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke foundation would be appreciated. https://www.heartandstroke.ca/
