Thomson, Robert (Bob) born June 16, 1927 in Paisley, Scotland, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2018 in Ottawa, with Maureen, his beloved wife of 65 years, at his side. He was a wonderful father to Glenn, Janet (Ted VanDusen), Brenda Prymack (Marc) and Sandra (Lynn Iding), grandfather to Pierce, Travis, and Darcy Ujjainwalla, Alex, Diana and Anthony Prymack, and great grandfather to Riley and Spencer Ujjainwalla. Predeceased by his siblings, William, Annie, May, Margaret and James, and his parents, James and Margaret (nee McAvoy).
Bob was known for his decency, kindness, patience, integrity, sense of humour and devotion to family. His 30 years of service with Alcan as an engineer, provided opportunies to travel extensively and to live in beautiful parts of the world, including Saguenay-Lac St. Jean, Switzerland, Australia, and Bermuda.
Bob had many interests, such as fishing, woodworking, golfing, travelling, playing bridge and the harmonica. Bob and Maureen chose to retire in Stittsville, Ontario to be close to family and maintain an active social life through friends, family, golf and bridge.
Thank you to the amazing staff at Windsor Park Manor who provided wonderful care and attention to Bob during his stay there.
Visitation will take place at McEvoy Shields Funeral Home at 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, on Monday, April 9, 2018 from 7:00 to 9:00pm with a funeral service on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 1:00pm, with a reception following.
