René Le Hénaff. Né à Penhars (Bretagne, France), il s’est illustré comme sergent télégraphiste-parachutiste lors de la guerre d’Indochine et a immigré au Canada en 1951. Électricien de formation, il fut l’un des membres fondateur du département du Génie Électrique à la faculté du Génie de l’Université d’Ottawa, tout d’abord en tant que technicien puis comme administrateur jusqu’à sa retraite.
René, époux de feu Ghislaine Barrette, laisse dans le deuil ses quatre enfants Alain (Marie Touchette), Annick (Michel Thériault), Simon (Kim Weatherston) et Jérôme; ses petits-enfants, François, Catherine (Rémi Richard), Pierre-Alain, Laurence, Pascale, Loïc, Maryse (Darien Samaroo), Jean-Philippe (Jennifer Ryane), Allissia (Adam Brown) et son arrière-petite-fille, Lily. Il laisse également dans le deuil sa sœur Andrée (Michel Défaucheux), son beau-frère Rémi Barrette (Céline Savard) et ses belles-sœurs Yolande (feu George Tremblay), Nicole Barrette ainsi que de nombreux neveux et nièces canadiens. Il laisse également dans le deuil ses nièces/neveux Nadine (Patrick Robert), Françoise, Philippe et Olivier en France. Il fut prédécédé par son fils Vincent et sa sœur Denise (feu Jacques Hermann).
La famille désire remercier le Dr. Tessier et les infirmier/ères qui ont veillé sur lui lors de son court séjour à l’hôpital Montfort.
La célébration de vie aura lieu le vendredi 21 mai 2021 à 10h30 suivis par l'enterrement au cimetière. Afin de respecter les consignes gouvernementales sur la COVID-19, seul les 10 membres de la famille immédiate pourront être présentes.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of René Le Hénaff. Born in Penhars (Brittany, France), his professional training was as an electrician. He enrolled in the French army as a paratrooper/telegrapher during the Indochina war and later immigrated to Canada in 1951. René was a founding member of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ottawa where he initially worked as a technician and later as an administrator up until his retirement.
René, husband to the late Ghislaine Barrette, leaves behind his four children; Alain (Marie Touchette), Annick (Michel Thériault), Simon (Kim Weatherston) and Jérôme; his grandchildren, Francois, Catherine (Rémi Richard), Pierre-Alain, Laurence, Pascale, Loïc, Maryse (Darien Samaroo), Jean-Philippe (Jennifer Ryane), Allissia (Adam Brown) and his great granddaughter, Lily. He also leaves behind his sister Andrée (Michel Défaucheux), his brother-in-law Rémi Barrette (Céline Savard) and his sisters-in-law Yolande (the late George Tremblay) and Nicole Barrette as well as numerous Canadian nieces/nephews. René also leaves behind his French nieces/nephews Nadine (Patrick Robert), Francoise, Philippe and Olivier. René was predeceased by his son Vincent and his sister Denise (the late Jacques Hermann).
The family wishes to thank Dr. Tessier and the nurses who cared for him during his short stay at the Montfort hospital.
The celebration of life will be held Friday, May 21st, 2021 at 10H30 followed by the burial at the cemetery. In order to comply with the government’s health regulations on COVID-19, only 10 members of the immediate family will be able to attend the funeral.
