The world lost a beloved mother, Pauline Robertson (Foster), on Nov 24, 2022. Pauline battled a lung disease for the last 15 years, and blindness for the last three, but it never stopped her from giving out the best hugs -ever! Pauline devoted her life to her children Allan Robertson (Maureen), Beverly Ricardo (Cesar) and Christine Skirth (Richard), and her two grandchildren Paul Robertson (Star) and Rosario Ricardo-Marquez (Mandy). She peacefully passed away surrounded in love.
Born in North Walsingham Twp. Norfolk, Ontario May 11, 1938, she was the middle child of five. Most of her life was spent living in the Brockville area, close to the St. Lawrence River, a place she adored. She is predeceased by her brother Donald, mother Mary and father Nelson Foster, Tillsonburg, Ontario. She is survived by her amazing sisters and their families, Beatrice Cucksey, Audrey Rychel (Stan) and Joyce McCandless (John). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins all whom she devotedly stayed connected with. Pauline was a friend to so many people.
Pauline owned and operated Hilltop Beauty Salon in Brockville for decades, taught hairdressing at night school at St. Lawrence College and looked after hundreds of students at the Brockville General Hospital Comstock Residence, a career she adored, only retiring at age 70. From her early life she always gave more than she ever got in return, just the way she wanted it. She was a volunteer Brown Owl, worked in a shelter, helped build parade floats, worked in a kindergarten classroom, and helped in the kitchen at the Gloucester Senior Centre. She loved to knit, make greeting cards, word search, swim, dance and in her later years Zumba! She travelled many times with family, her last trip in October to Vancouver.
Pauline lived life to the fullest every day. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 – “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Family and Friends are welcome to attend the funeral service in honour of Pauline at the McEvoy Shields Funeral Home & Chapel, 1411 Hunt Club Rd., Ottawa, Ontario on December 14th. Pauline's service can also be viewed live or for replay at https://funeraweb.tv/diffusions/65655 A private family interment will be at a later date.
