Peacefully, Patricia passed away in her 91st year, Wednesday April 16, in Ottawa. Beloved wife of the late Frederick J. Dennis (1990). Dear daughter of the late Emely (nee Simmons) Murphy and the late Henry Murphy. Dear mother of Chris (Sue), of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Ian (Marie) of Ottawa, Ontario, and Eric (Sabrina) of Mississauga, Ontario. Pre-deceased by her sister Genevieve, brothers Harry and Don. She will be dearly missed by her grandson Theo (Ian & Marie of Ottawa). Much loved aunt, great aunt and matriarch of the Murphy tribe to Mary-Louise Walton, Patricia Murphy, Suzanne (Chuck), Charlene (Christopher), Ginger, Rochelle (Jay), and Harry (Jackie). Her many friends will remember her authentic and honest charm, sense of humour, fighting spirit, love of music and wildlife, and sense of decency above all. Her sons and daughters-in-law will remember her unconditional love, and her appreciation and pride in them as individuals. Pat was born in Kingston, Ontario where she graduated from KCVI. She and her friends spent their youth in the shadows and realities of war, where Patricia lost her fiance, John Teskey of Kingston. She married Frederick (RCN) on February 3rd, 1945, and during and afterwards was employed at the law firm of Harrington-Slater, Kingston, before she began raising her three sons. Fred’s career at Dupont Canada took them to Prescott, Brockville, Whitby, Kingston, Ajax, Mississauga, Ontario; Montreal, Quebec; and Mississauga, Ontario. She was an active volunteer at the Ajax Hospital and at the Queens University Library. After retirement, Pat and Fred enjoyed winters in Florida and summers in the family cottage at Charleston Lake, Ontario. Patricia’s family will receive their friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home (1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa) on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service will be held at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 2:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to The Alzheimers Society, or the World Wildlife Fund, in Mrs. Dennis’ memory and would be thoughtfully remembered by the family.
