Mona Godding

June 26, 1924 – April 8, 2012

Mona passed away peacefully at the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre, Easter Sunday, after a long ordeal with dementia. Daughter of the late Clifford and Florence Bent of Barnsley, Yorkshire, England. Wife of the late Reginald Godding. She was a devoted mother of Julia Demerse (Patrick), Pat Connolly, and Stephen Godding (Katherine) and a loving grandmother of Clare (Chris Coughtrey) and Chris Demerse (Silvia Grandi); Mark and Laura Connolly; and Sarah and Myles Godding. Mona also became a great grandmother this past year to Cole Coughtrey and Matteo Demerse. Mona will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, family and friends. She was always warm hearted and welcoming. Mona’s passions were her family, walks, reading, music and badminton. The family wishes to extend grateful thanks to the staff of Gatineau 2 South of PRVHC for taking such good care of our mother. A memorial service will be held at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion), at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 14. Visitation will be 1 hour prior, with a reception to follow the memorial service.
