It is with broken hearts that we announce that our son Kevin Biggin, at the young age of 31, has gone to be with his Saviour. Cherished son of Gary and Faye Biggin (Genge). Loving brother to Kayla (Chuk) and fun uncle to Mira and Zeke. Beautiful grandson of Walter and Mildred Biggin. He has joined in heaven with his poppy and nanny, George and Renie Genge, baby Claire, uncle Dave and uncle Barry. Loved by his aunts, uncles and many cousins. Kevin was born in St. Anthony NL, then moved to Ottawa in 1997, where he lived since the age of 8. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends, near and far.
Kevin was such a fun-loving child and in school he was known as the ‘gentle giant.’ Bigger than his peers but with the softest heart. Often the laugh of the party, he knew how to have a good time and left everyone in stitches. Always making up songs and games, he played and laughed the days away. He provided endless entertainment on our several family trips.
Kevin loved the outdoors and to be active. Running, biking or just walking the dog. In high school he was active in outdoor education. He spent countless hours on the slopes snowboarding and trying all the jumps and tricks. Many hours were spent fishing on Muskrat Lake with Dad and they enjoyed a couple trips white water canoeing, which always ended in someone getting wet and lots of laughs.
Kevin was an avid gamer who found a lot of joy chatting and playing games with his friends online. He was a member of a Christian Gaming Community whose mission statement says “we are gamers of all ages and nations who are drawn together by our love and worship of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.” Kevin would talk about how they provided encouragement to him and I know they had a positive impact on his life. We don’t know their names, but we do want to thank them for the encouragement they provided to Kevin. It is this gaming site that was still on his computer screen as he went to be with our Lord.
Kevin loved his job at the House of Commons as an AutoCAD designer and by all accounts he was one of the very best at his job. He took pride in his work and he will be missed. The drawings that he’s done will be around for a very long time. We would like to thank everyone at HoC for that privilege.
His sister will miss his sense of humour, his guidance in music, and his big-little brother defence system.
In the past year, he and mom bonded over meals, and talked about music and the Lord many times. In his last week here on earth he was happy and content. He always knew that his dad, mom, and special sister Kayla, were there for him… no matter what. The two most said things in our family are “I love you” every day and “we’re so proud of you.” He was loved beyond measure and we have peace knowing that Kevin loved Jesus and is in His loving arms for eternity.
A private family service will take place in the coming week. Donations in lieu of flowers in memory of Kevin may be made to Ottawa Valley Pentecostal Camp.
