(Née Genier)
Passed away peacefully at the Queensway-Carleton Emergency Department with her daughter and granddaughter at her side on Thursday, August 7, 2014 in her 96th year. Beloved wife of Gregory Bergin. Loving mother of Louise (John Kebe). Nana to Matthew and Alexandra and great-grandmother to Jacob, Curtis and Olivia. Predeceased by her siblings Alphonse, Paul, Jean, Roland and Bernard. Prior to her retirement, she had been a primary school teacher for 35 years in various Ontario schools and completed her career at the Viscount Alexander School at the DND base in Ottawa East. The positive energy that surrounded her was infectious. With her encouragement, advice and ideas, she helped many see and fulfill their own potential. Jeanne was an avid tennis player and had many friends on the tennis courts at the Ottawa Athletic Club, the Silver Thatch courts in Pompano Beach, Florida and the Riviera apartment complex in Ottawa. When not tending her flowers, especially irises or knitting sweaters and dresses for family members, she loved to travel in Europe and Asia. She was an active participant in bridge clubs and a lifelong learner and reader. The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers these past two years at Robertson House. Cremation has taken place and she has been laid to rest at Hope Cemetery.
