It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Elvira Delos Santos, on Monday, July 31, 2023, at the age of 96. She died peacefully from heart failure at Montfort Hospital with the care of the palliative team. Elvira was predeceased by her parents, Gavino and Andrea Viceo Delos Santos. She was a loving sister to Magdalena Reyes and to her late brother Jose Delos Santos and late sisters, Dionisia Layug and Anicia Cardenas. She has been blessed with many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great grand nieces, great grand nephews and many devoted old-time friends from the Filipino Canadian community and Assumption Parish in Ottawa. Auntie Elvie was a very caring, loving, generous and kind person. She helped her family to migrate to Canada from the Philippines in the 1970s. She had a strong devotion to the Catholic Faith. She was a longtime member of the CWL and was a former president of Legion of Mary at St. Brigid and member of the senior group at Assumption church. Special thanks to her nieces, Marilou and Tessie, nephew Chichot, together with the 2nd floor nursing staff, who helped care for her at Portobello manor.
Friends may pay their respects at the Racine, Robert, and Gauthier Funeral Home at 180 Montreal Road on Tuesday, Aug 8, 2023 from 2pm to 5pm.
A Funeral will be held on Wednesday, Aug 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish, 3092 Innes Road. Interment to follow at the Beechwood Cemetery at 280 Beechwood Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation would be appreciated.
