Mike and I have been thinking about you often since we learned of Ellen's passing.  Our time together has been short but we enjoyed getting to know your family when we recently moved to Ottawa.  We remember tobogganing, Ellen's love for your cottage, and her devotion to you, Emily and Ross.  Thoughts of the 2012 Valentine's evening at Linda and Olaf's, giggling as we shared and guessed relationship answers in the form of a TV shows, are also poignant.  Our condolences as you all adjust to not having your beloved Ellen around.  You have our kindest sympathies.

It's taken me a while to write this.  I was glad to have shared some time with everyone when we said goodbye to Ellen on 18th September.  Ellen and I have been friends since Grade 4 when the Griswolds moved our crazy neighbourhood.  We went to elementary, high school and then university together....of course, Ellen took all the hard subjects :)  Ellen was nicknamed "Smiley" by my Dad, a name that stuck with our family and for good reason.  Ellen was a positive, happy, honest and wonderful person.  Her smile was as genuine as she was.  I miss her dearly but get a smile on my face every time I think of her.

David, Emily, Ross & Lulu - I think about you every day and hope you all come to visit Cayman as I know that's a happy place for you.

Mr. Griswold, Anna, Ann & Loraine - thank you so much for the opportunity to participate in Ellen's service.  It was a very sad time but it was so nice to reconnect with you and the neighbourhood gang.

To Ellen Mary Griswold - THANKS!! You've left us but not before touching all of so so deeply with your wit, humour, smile, courage and kindness.  Miss you and love you lots.  Ciao Bella xoxo

Ellen was one of my best friends in high school.  She was so smart, funny and generous.  Although I have not seen her since 1st year university, it just seems like yesterday, that we laughed together and shared our dreams.  My heart joins with all those who loved her.  I will never forget my friend.

What a privilege is has been and an honor to be able to have friend in …. ‘Ellen Mary'.   What an amazingly positive person…. Fun loving, smart, full of integrity and a laugh that reminds you to enjoy every minute (as someone said – I can hear it now)….  From running around the neighborhood in our pj's in the ‘P-patch' to discussing the joys of being a mother; I truly valued our time together and will always remember my friend…. And smile.
