Beloved husband and best friend to Joanne (Luckasavitch) for over 40 years. Loving and devoted father to Jenna (Brett) and Megan (Lorenzo). Very proud Papa to Brooks.
He will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends who became family, and many colleagues over the years.
Originally from Barrys Bay, Unie and Joanne headed to the big city (Ottawa) to pursue their dreams. Unie’s passion was his mechanics garage, Ed’s Auto Ltd, which was successfully open for the past 32 years. He was an extremely hard worker, who loved his career, and all of his clients and staff. He was always known as a man who could fix everything, and anything.
Unie loved the great outdoors, spending time at the cottage with his family, and always looked forward to his yearly hunting trips with his nephews, godson, and good friends.
Unie’s love for country music was prominent, as his favourite artist was Waylon Jennings. Waylon sang it best when he sang to Willie Nelson: “If you see me gettin’ smaller I’m leavin’ don’t be grieving. Just got to get away from here. If you see me gettin’ smaller don’t worry, I’m in no hurry, I’ve got the right to disappear.”
To honour Unie’s wishes, no formal service will be held. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
If desired, memorial donations can be made to St.Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation.
