It was with great sadness when Virginia and I learned of the passing of your dad.
My memories of your dad are of course associated with countless hockey games and arenas. In those memories the following inadequate words come to mind, kind, considerate, thoughtful, gentle, understanding and of course his pride in you and I’m sure all of his children.
Along those lines , when I read his obituary and saw the vast number of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, I thought how lucky you all were to have been loved and been a part of this mans life. In his life he has passed on to all of you a part of him , which can never be taken away. Thinking of Marie and your family.

I feel so grateful to have known this man.
I mean this when I say…I have never known a gentler more loving man. When I saw him with the family…..the love for his wife…and romance still so alive. Watching them dance in the living room, hold hands and glance at each other with love . The thoughtful notes he would send me. Listening to him play music and smile.

I find the words hard to express…..everything in my heart.
The pictures you have posted are beautiful and reminds me of many memories.

When I think of Don, I think of a most kind and gentle man.  My mom Dolores and Dad Raymond were very fond of their friends Don and Marie.  Don, you will be missed.

Enfant, alors que j’essayais de lui parler en un anglais bredouillant, toujours il avait un bon mot pour m’encourager. “You are doing fine, Martine. Keep going”. Il a été très courageux en faisant face à tous ces traitements. Qu’il repose maintenant en paix. Il restera toujours vivant dans vos cœurs et à travers vous tous.

Dear Marie and family,

I was very sorry indeed to hear of Don's death. I knew Don when he was our administrative officer here in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and I kept in touch with him after he retired from the Department. He was a very kind and very capable person, always generous with his time in helping others, always ready to go the extra mile to make sure that he had really solved the problem at hand. As I got to know him I realized that his  kindness and generosity stemmed from a deep Christian faith, which I shared and very much appreciated. It was a privilege to know Don, and to have the example of his strength of character and service. May he rest in peace!

We had the great pleasure of meeting Don several times when our daughter Britt married into his wonderful family. He was always gracious and smiling. I have one especially fond memory of him and a conversation we had about four years ago when he came to our home to celebrate the birthday of a little one. He had been having some health problems and I asked him how he was. He said "Well, I have cancer in my right leg, and my wife in her left, so we balance each other out this way." I was so struck by the love and care in that simple statement. He epitomized "It isn't what happens to you, it is how you respond to it that matters". Our many condolences to Don's wife and the entire extended family as you adjust to the Universe without him. Karen and Iain Lambert

It is with a heavy heart that Mike and I join in to offer our deepest condolences.  I do have a special memory of Uncle Don that I hold dear to my heart.  My first introduction to the ice cream float was from Uncle Don who so fondly wanted me to experience this and of course, I could not resist his big smile! He made the best ever and I cherish this moment to this day!  We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
