Colin shared his fun and talent with us for the Barrie Renaissance Festival at Molson Park. I also bought a bass viol from him that he built. His influence was great in my life. I wish I could have seen him again after that..but we lived far away..

Dear Colin, already sooo many years you have passed away...I miss you. I miss my visits to Ottawa...and Manotick.  I miss your wittiness, your quick and lively mind. I so love my two 7-course Renaissance Lutes you had built for me, so many years ago when you lived in Ottawa. You were such a skilled Luthier.  I remember the pleasure I had when I would visit you in your beautiful "country paradise" Manotick & seeing your wonderful family.  I remember when we attended the private concert with Jakob Lindberg back in Montreal many many years ago.  You were a fascinating and enigmatic character. Sorry I was late for class.  You were a wonderful teacher.  Thank you so much for putting me through the wonderful hell of physical chemistry all those years ago.   Your love of music inspired me.   I still see your eyes when I play Asturias on my guitar.

I used to be friends with Colin many years ago, when he lived in Ottawa South near the river. We played together, but more often I listened to him and his various musical groups making beautiful music. He was a good musician, a good instrument maker, a good impresario, a good friend for many. A man of many ideas and many initiatives, he gave new life to the ancient music that we both liked. Every meeting was a memorable pleasure. He will live in the memory of many.

Colin a fini son voyage dans le calme et la sérénité mais sa vie a été pleine d'énergie et d'enthousiasme.  

Enthousiasme pour ses étudiants anglophones aussi bien que francophones à Algonquin, enthousiasme (et expertise !) pour la fabrication de luthes et plus tard de harpes, passion pour la musique de la Renaissance (y compris pour les chansons un peu coquines) et une joie de vivre communicatrice. Un ami de longue date et de grands talents qui croyait pleinement à ce qu'il faisait et réussissait à tout ce qu'il décidait d'entreprendre.  

Une grande perte pour tous ceux qui le connaissaient.

He was a wonderful person.As a fellow Algonquin teacher in the 1970's and 80's I remember having the "occasional" beer with him and Percy Kelly,Brian O'Meara,Mike Poirier and other of his friends.I was attracted to his humour and intelligence and sense of fair play.Those times will surely be missed greatly by me.

So sorry that you snuck away from us and not hanging around to help us celebrate Canada Day and being able to get a peek of the Royal couple as they rolled by in their landau.

We saw some of your buddies in their red unforms that looked amazingly like yours but they did not perform their musical ride. I suppose they were reluctant to try and outdo your performance.
Thank you for making our 12th Night celebrations so unforgettable with the bawdy sing songs and having such lovely pot luck suppers, dancing and swim parties in Manotick

Not only will Colin be remembered by friends and family, he will also remain in the hearts of many of his students. It's been nearly 40 years now since I had the honour of being taught by Dr. Everett, but I still recall fondly the time we spent in his classroom...and some of what he taught me... and as well I remember his kindness towards me and the fondness for music that we both shared. My sincerest condolences to all who loved him.

We are very saddened to hear of Colin's passing. He gave so much of himself to those around him. I have only known Colin for eight months, but in that short time he made me realize how precious our life as I sat with him in the dining room at our retirement home. I know how much he had
to struggle with his devistating disease and how he kept his spirits up
was to me a modern miracle.

I shall miss Colin very much. I have great memories of his singing and lute-playing, and especially of his camaraderie...of singing and playing together at medieval feasts, Carleton concerts, and Twelfth Night/Vox Humana/As We Like It productions.

May you be consoled by how very well regarded he was, and by your many good memories.

Colin Everett was an amazing teacher. I was an adult learner, taking chemistry for the first time in my life, and starting at the college level. He not only made the journey possible, he made it exciting. His patience and understanding made it possible for me to succeed, and this success has lead to a remarkable career for me. I can't thank him enough!
