Cheryl Ann St-Georges

At peace now, Cheryl passed away on May 6th 2020 at the young age of 58 after a lengthy and courageous battle with her illness. Daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend; she is survived by the loves of her life, her husband Marc and their children Sarah and Matthew. Dearly missed by her parents William and Mary Foslett, her sisters Susan (Dave Laferriere), Michele (Mark Tourville), Tracey (Kerry Laferriere), her brother Kevin (Pamela Gail), and the St-Georges family, father-in-law Gerard, Guy, Claude, Jacques(Lorraine) and Denise. She is also fondly remembered by all her nieces and nephews whom she loved so very much and all her friends whom she loved and cherished for enriching her life. Cheryl was a warm, loving, funny, feisty, beautiful woman and most of all a fighter who was an avid reader and loved to cook with the assistance of her sous-chef (pot scrubber) husband and children. She fought tooth and nail to live as long as possible for her family and has certainly earned her wings to Heaven.

We would like to express our appreciation to the Queensway Carleton Hospital Emergency Room staff and the Acute Care and Elderly (ACE) Unit for the compassionate care they provided Cheryl and for allowing Sarah, Matthew and I to be with her in her final hours. A very special thank you to Cheryl’s LHIN care coordinators who were instrumental in her care requirements from the beginning; the staff and PSWs at Bayshore Home Health and VHA, and the volunteers at Hospice Care Ottawa who provided fantastic home support to Cheryl since 2016. We also wish to acknowledge Cheryl’s health care team: her family physician Dr. James Lunney along with the staff at the WestEnd Family Clinic FHT, Dr. Barrett and Dr. Hadj Tahar along with the staff at Booth Neurology, Dr. Bourque at the Ottawa Civic Neurology Clinic, the palliative care team of Dr. Michelle McKinnon and Dr. Andrew Douglas, the Carefor team of nurses, social workers, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, the Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre Augmentative Communication and Writing Services (ACWS), her speech language pathologist and her dietician, all who provided Cheryl compassionate care during her difficult journey.

Two visitations will take place. The first will be in Ottawa on Thursday, September 24th, 2020 at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home and Chapel, 1411 Hunt Club Road. Due to the Covid 19 restrictions, guests are asked to call the funeral home at 613-737-7900 to schedule an appointed time. Available periods are 6:30 – 7:00 pm, 7:30 – 8:00pm, and 8:30 – 9:00 pm. The second visitation will be held in North Bay, ON at McGuinty Funeral Home on Friday, September 25th, 2020 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. followed by a private memorial service on Saturday September 26th, 2020 at 9 am. For anyone wishing to view the service, you can do so by logging onto the McGuinty Funeral Home Limited Facebook page. Entombment will be at the All Saints Mausoleum. Again, in accordance with current directives from the Bereavement Authority of Ontario regarding COVID 19 (https://thebao.ca/registrars-directive-changes-to-funeral-and-visitation-attendance/) the total number of attendees is limited, and additional precautions are in place.
